Eat, The Arndale Centre

0

For the second day running I’ve been to Eat in The Arndale Centre.

I’ve had the same thing both times so there’s just one review.  The first thing to say is that the food in there does generally look really fresh and tasty. The second thing to say is that it doesn’t really cater for your budget is not generous.

Anyway, I’ve had the crayfish noodle salad both days and its pretty tasty to be honest.  Its tossed lightly in a satay sauce and has a freshness added by the inclusion of half a lime to squeeze over the top.  Its not a spectacular meal but its tasty and healthy which fits the bill at the moment.

As usual I was with Stevo for both visits and he loves the place which is why I went.  I wont be going if I’m not with Stevo as its pricey and further than I normally go at lunch; but then again, I wont protest if he wants to go again next week.

At £7.65 its one of the most expensive lunches I’ve had.

PS There sould be a follow up to this review later this afternoon when I tuck into the Wasabi Peas I treated myself to :)

Duck noodle wrap £2.50

Setting my expectations somewhere around the £2.50 price mark (that being the leftover change in my trouser pocket) I meandered into the famously five-star Wings restaurant’s fast-food outlet all a-flutter at the prospect of being able to afford half a pot of aromatic noodles.

Noodles, yeah?  With some bits of duck and sauce, right?  In a wrap, OK?  And that’s it!  For £2.50!  What’s not to like?  Why didn’t I think of it first?  Is it because noodles are essentially a variation on bread, and therefore putting them in a wrap is a bit like having a bread sandwich?  Maybe.  In any case I tell you what: it wasn’t bad.  The sauce was pretty surprisingly tasty and the sheer “I’m really eating food here” sensation of filling your gob with noodles in a wrap was quite fun.  Till it was over.  And it was over fast.  It looks like a fairly decent size for what it is.  And I suppose it is.  But a grown man would need to consume at least two of these to stop himself from going to Quality Save in Piccadilly Gardens immediately afterwards even though lunch time is nearly over just to order 59 pence worth of “37% Chocolate” Chocolate Cookies and scoffing the lot to fill up on whilst his work-mates look on and shake their heads whispering to each other about what a fat git he really is.  Just saying is all . . .

I’m drowning in the hoi sin of your lies, so fill me with your noodly goodness.

Rice – Piccadilly Gardens

Meal: American BBQ Chicken (minus mushrooms)
The chicken is combined with peppers, noodles and baby sweetcorn mixed with a nicely cooked egg-fried rice covered in a tangy-sweet bbq sauce.

I’ve had this meal a few times now and it has to be my favourite meal from Rice. I order the meal without mushrooms as Im not a fan of the fungi.
This meal is a perfect stomach filler and wont leave you wanting more, the price is a little high for a mid-week lunch, £5.99 but as I said it does fill you up and tastes amazing so is worth it as a one off every now and again.
